About Us
As physicians, we've witnessed, but also personally experienced, the struggles individuals face when it comes to their health, wellbeing, and weight loss journeys. And although it can be a challenging process, we believe your state of “dis-ease” should not be a barrier to your health and happiness. Thats why, At NutriMD, we use the “inside-out” approach. By implementing a comprehensive analysis of our patients’ health, we are able to find the root cause of their state of “dis-ease” and understand why the symptom even presents itself. We then consider a combination of functional and traditional medicine methodologies to develop treatment plans catered to meet each individual’s needs. By combining our medical expertise with an integrative approach, we are committed to promoting health, vitality, sustainability, and balance in our patients’ lives. We strive to inspire our community to make lasting changes and improvements to their health as we stand beside them each step of the way!

Growing up, I lived life as a carefree tomboy. I was always interested in sports and had dreams of going to the Olympics or Wimbledon. My interest quickly redirected to medicine when my sister passed at a very young age due to a medical condition. Yes, I had lost my best friend, but it sparked a fire in me that I am forever grateful for. I believe life teaches us a lot and puts us in situations where we will find our purpose and do the most growing. So I quickly redirected my focus to helping people overcome obstacles in their health. With hard work and perseverance, I was able to complete medical school and residency.
Before I knew it, I was married, had a beautiful baby girl, and happy practicing medicine. I was proud of my achievements and so grateful for my life. It was after my second baby, at the age of 32, that I was diagnosed with prediabetes. From then on it was a constant struggle with my weight and blood sugar. It was a shock to me considering how active and healthy I was, but it was in my genetics nonetheless.
As I was struggling with my own health issues, a patient presented to my office with morbid obesity. He had a strong family history of early onset cardiac death, but was coming into my office to be treated for his high blood pressure. I knew that blood pressure management through medication would simply be a bandage to all of his underlying health issues. He would come in for his follow up appts and My heart would always ache to see him suffer. He couldn't get comfortable-sitting, laying or walking. I kept asking myself, what can I do to help him? And I wish I could say he was the only one who needed my help.
I felt a calling to do more, to make a change. I decided to further my education and study for the Obesity boards. And, before I knew it, I was board certified in Obesity and Weight Management. With a specialized understanding of the disease processes involved with weight management, I was able to assess which medication, with the proper dietary changes, would be most beneficial for each patient. And soon enough patient’s began not only to lose the weight, but to keep it off! This in turn had incredible effects on their overall health. I am so grateful to have such a fulfilling specialty in which I am able to literally see the change I am able to make in another’s health and well-being.

Inspired by my mother who had a passion for helping others, I embarked on the rigorous journey through Podiatric Medical school. It was during that time that I picked up weight lifting. It became a passion of mine, helping me mentally and physically overcome challenges. Fast forward a few years- I’ve finished residency and have joined private practice. While working, I was also competing as a bodybuilder and basically living on autopilot as I had been for many years by then.
I was going to crash, I felt it. It came on slowly at first, but after a traumatic experience in my personal life, I began spiraling. A dysregulated nervous system, gut issues, binge eating, anorexia depression, anxiety, you name it. And it was nothing just a quick fix medication could resolve because believe me, the doctor in me tried.
After years of feeling like a lab rat, trialing various medications that provided no relief, I began to lose hope.
It was at my lowest point when something in me finally changed. One day, in the cara before work, I was doing my best to meditate- a practice i struggled with greatly at that time in my life. After what felt like hours of sitting there, listening to my horrible thoughts, I was finally able to drop in. And when i did, I heard my moms voice–”If there's a will, there's a way.” She’d repeat that to me as a child whenever she heard me making excuses. It was at that moment that I decided to take matters ito my own hands. I could, indeed, overcome this, it was just my approach that had to change. Sure medication would help, but I had to reevaluate other aspects of my health and how I was treating my body as a whole. I accepted my responsibility to make the necessary changes to allow healing to take place.
And although the journey truly is life long, I eventually found myself in a place stable enough to call “recovered.” During my lowest of lows I came across people that helped me through my journey, my mom being my #1 support always. As they helped heal, I believe it’s my responsibility and purpose to now pay that forward. While you may feel like it at times, I'm here to tell you that you're not alone. My role as your physician goes beyond diet and exercise. My personal experience, combined with my knowledge of medicine, nutrition, wellness, and fitness, my goal is to provide my community a holistic healing experience that empowers them to take back control of their lives and their health. And I’ll be there by your side each step of the way.
